PeopleNet's Mobile Communications Expertise

NASHVILLE - April 30, 2006 - Powered by the proven success and versatility of its g3 Onboard Computing platform, PeopleNet®, the leading provider of onboard computing and mobile communications systems to the nation's transportation industry, continues to make dramatic inroads in the private fleet community. The company announced its progress including several marquee private fleet signings at the National Private Truck Council's Management Conference and Exposition in Nashville.

"We have worked tirelessly to understand the unique operating environment in which private fleets must operate today and to respond with applications that truly solve their needs," says Ron Konezny, chief operating officer of PeopleNet. "As a result of these relationships we have introduced new products and enhanced our suite of leading-edge applications that can be tailored to help the entire private fleet community deliver optimal functionality and return on investment."

PeopleNet now boasts a line-up of over 1,000 customers that have either converted from older on-board technology or have discovered the tailored mobile communications solutions developed by PeopleNet now provide tools and resources they can implement to optimize their specialized applications.

"We have signed more than 15 new private fleet customers so far this year representing nearly 2,000 units including Pilot Travel Centers, Boral Bricks and Batesville Casket," Konezny says. "They have been favorably impressed with our philosophy, our products and our support."

"These new customers, like all private fleets, recognize the value our products play in enhancing their safety and compliance initiatives," he continued. "When they are running around the country with their premium product brands on the sides of their units, safety is a paramount concern. That is why they are the early adopters of our new On-board Event Recording tool that captures the events leading up to an accident."

In addition, he noted that most private fleets are taking advantage of PeopleNet's suite of applications to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and taxes. For instance, the eDriver Logs compliance tool helps monitor their drivers' hours of service and the Fuel Tax options help to automate fuel tax filings.

Konezny credits PeopleNet's new g3 platform for much of the success. "Fleets have embraced this new solution because it represents a convergence of mobile communications, onboard computing and fleet management, contributing to growth in 2005 of nearly 50 percent over last year," he says.

"This next-generation onboard computer exceeds customer expectations by providing multi-network, open, and smart access to help fleets multi-task and automate key processes across their operations including electronic on-board computers, integrated dispatch, and performance management among others. The barriers of bandwidth, memory, peripherals, applications and integration have virtually gone away."

Headquartered in Minneapolis, PeopleNet is the fastest-growing provider of Internet-based onboard computing and mobile communications systems to the transportation industry, including truckload, LTL, private, and service fleets. The company serves several Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. and Canada and has signed more than 1,000 customers since inception over 12 years ago.
