PeopleNet Cited as Fastest Growing Mobile Communications Provider, According to Independent Industry Research

"In the U.S. today, there are over 20 million fleet vehicles, nearly five million trailers and over a million pieces of heavy construction equipment," according to the Driscoll research, U.S. Mobile Resource Management Systems Market Study. "Of the 20 million+ fleet vehicles operating in the U.S., approximately 1.36 million fleet vehicles are currently equipped with installed automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems, in the following categories - 920,000 local fleet vehicles, including service, delivery, public safety, public transit and government fleets and 440,000 systems on long haul trucks."

Since the release of the company's first market report in February 2003, Driscoll reports the total installed base of fleet AVL units has increased from an estimated 1.0 million units to 1.36 million units, which equates to approximately 13 percent annual growth.

"Most of this growth has occurred in the local fleet vehicle tracking market, where the installed base has increased from approximately 500,000 units to 920,000 units, i.e. just over 27 percent unit growth per year," the study continued. "The long haul trucking market, which is more mature, has been relatively flat, with estimated subscriber growth of only about 7 percent annually."
